Admissions Policy
Your child will be settled into the Nursery gradually.
You can bring your child into the Nursery for trials, which are free of charge, for one hour at a time. This can be arranged
with a member of staff so that quality time can be given to your child. Two trial sessions are allowed and your child's name
needs to be entered on a waiting list to ensure that a place is available when required.
Equal Opportunities Policy
Our ethos is non-discrimination in areas of Ethnic Origin,
Sex, Religion and Disability.
Opportunities should be available to all children and families and to
all adults committed to the welfare of the children.
- Anti-sexist play will be encouraged e.g. girls having the opportunity to play with cars,
meccano, etc... and boys having the opportunity to play with dolls, tea set's etc...
- Countries, religious beliefs and festivals will be shared, welcomed and celebrated by
the children through topics, visitors and play
- Our lunch menu and festival activities are designed to encourage the tasting of food
from different countries and cultures.
- It is the Nurseries aim to promote mutual respect, positive attitudes and for all to
treat everyone with equal concern.
Special Educational Needs Policy
At Ladybird Day Nursery we feel that it is important that any
concerns about a child's development and progress should be addressed at the earliest possible moment.
Concerns
may relate to:- - Physical health function
- Communication skills
- Perceptual
and motor skills
- Self help skills
- Emotional and behavioural development
- Responses to learning experiences
We, at Ladybird, feel that if a child
has Special Educational Needs issues, that child has the right to be integrated into normal day to day Nursery routine, therefore
treating each child as an equal. Additionally, if a child does require extra support/facilities, the Nursery will endeavour
to meet those needs within the setting and/or by the flexibility in the development of staff.
Behaviour Policy
-
No physical punishment is administered.
-
Physical contact between children: Children are separated
and spoken to firmly and an explanation is given as to why the behaviour is not acceptable.
-
Repeated 'problem' behaviour patterns e.g. biting, kicking, etc... is brought
to the parent's attention.
-
Noticeable changes in the behaviour patterns of children will be discussed
with parents.
Child Protection Policy
Ladybird Day Nursery ensure that your child can play in a safe, secure
environment. All staff at Ladybird Day Nursery
have been registered with OFSTED and cleared through the Criminal Records Bureau.
Staff regularly
check toys and equipment; any faulty or broken equipment is removed immediately. Toys and equipment are washed regularly to
prevent the spread of infection.
Any visitors to Ladybird Day Nursery are asked to provide identification
before entering the premises. Your child may only be released from the Nurserys care with a parent/carer or other named
person, who has been authorised to do so, with a password.
Children who are ill, e.g. sickness,
diarrhoea, etc.. may cause the spread of infection. They can therefore only enter the building after 48 hours from the
last incident of illness or with a doctor's clearance.
At Ladybird Day Nursery it is
our policy to report any suspicious case of abuse to the local authority as stated in the Children's Act. Child
abuse is defined in the Children's Act (1989) as... actual or likely harm to the child, where harm includes both ill treatment
(which includes sexual abuse and non-physical ill treatment such as emotional abuse) and the impairment of health or development,
meaning physical or mental health and development, meaning physical, intellectual, emotional, social or behavioural development. Copies
of the Area Protection Committee (A.C.P.C) inter-agency procedures are available on the Nursery premises to enable staff to
follow the correct procedures.
Partnership With Parents
Here at Ladybird Day Nursery we feel that it is important to build
up a good relationship with parents/carers, as you need to feel confident when leaving your child in the care of the Nursery
staff.
Parents/carers are encouraged to come into the Nursery and discuss their child's day
to day activities and ask any questions they feel necessary.
We encourage all our parents/carers
to take an interest in our Nursery by implementing an 'Open door' policy. If you feel that you need to discuss the
progress of your child in private an appointment can be made with the Nursery Manager, Deputy or Key Worker.
We
make every effort to speak to parents/carers on a daily basis concerning their child's day at Nursery.
In
the Baby and Tweenie rooms each child has their own daily diary, which informs you about your child's day. These are here
to keep you informed and so that you can also write any information you wish the Nursery staff to know.
In the Toddler and Pre-School rooms wipe boards are displayed outside the rooms for you to read, with your child's
daily activities recorded on them. They also show what and how much your child has eaten at mealtimes throughout the day.
Throughout the first few days of your child's attendance at the Nursery it is normal for
you to feel concerned, so all parents/carers are more than welcome to ring the Nursery for peace of mind and to see how their
child is progressing.
Complaints Procedure
There may come a time when a parent wishes to make
a complaint about our Nursery, a member of staff or even another child. Any complaint, no matter how small, will be dealt
with accordingly. We realise as a Nursery that when a parent/carer complains it is purely for the concerns of their child.
If the complaint cannot be dealt with by the member of staff originally approached, then it must be referred to the Nursery
Manager or the Proprietor.
Any complaint will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence and the
Office will always be made available to anyone who wishes to speak in private. Any parent/carer or child involved in a complaint
will not be treated any differently by the staff.
COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE FOR PARENTS/CARERS Recommended stages are:- Approach the Nursery Manager
